The News
Your Florida Family Policy Council (FFPC) is often
in the center of the pro-family
debate in this state and involved with the most
recent issues that are important to
you. The following are some recent news clips of
FFPC’s involvement which has made the news.
 | | | On this day, 36 years ago... | | January 22, 2009 | | | Florida Family Policy Council | | On this day, 36 years ago, the United States Supreme Court decided the case of Roe vs. Wade. As a result, we have legally poisoned, dismembered and slaughtered millions of unborn children. Instead of being the safest and most secure place on earth, the mother’s womb has become the most dangerous place for babies since the 1973 decision. I just wanted to take a moment on this solemn day to ask if you would please recommit yourself to the cause of protecting the unborn? Would you pray with us today? Would you participate today? Would you become more educated today? Would you contribute to a pro-life group today? Would you help us to be a voice for those who are unable to speak or defend themselves today? During the past year, I was commissioned by Americans United for Life to write a law review paper on all the major laws and cases in Florida which touch on abortion regulations or the sanctity of human life. The extensive 41 page article* is entitled The Jurisprudence of Life and Death in the Sunshine State. The paper, which was published as one of a collection of reports in all 50 states, is enclosed below as a resource for your education and review.
During this upcoming 2009 Florida legislative session, the Florida Family Policy Council will be working very hard to pass the “Ultrasound before Abortion” bill which died last year on a 20-20 vote tie in the Florida Senate. If this bill is passed, it could save untold lives by providing pregnant mothers with an image of the little baby in their womb before they undergo the grizzly procedure.
The inauguration of Barack Obama this week has produced great anxiety in the pro-life community. While many of us are grateful for this historical moment of electing the nation’s first Black American president, we are also dreading the promises of what appears to be the most radically pro-abortion President in our nation’s history. If President Obama enacts the Freedom of Choice Act as he promised to do it would effectively reverse most every protection and regulation we have worked for decades in Florida to pass. Please pray that the President will moderate his views and not pursue this bad law.
We as a Policy Council will never waiver and never abandon the fight for the unborn. Would you fight with us? Stand with us? Speak out with us? Would you resolve to never rest until we end the legal killing of unborn children? Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
John Stemberger President and General Counsel Florida Family Policy Council

Since the writing of this paper the court has changed and will continue to change over the next month as Governor Crist makes the final of four new appointments to the Florida high court.
